My name is Shawn Alexander
Founder of Equilibrium Builders.
I’m the contractor people call when they want something no one else can build. At Equilibrium Builders, we take on bold, design-driven projects that demand precision, creativity, and craftsmanship. We don’t cut corners, and we don’t blend in—every space we build is meant to stand out and stand the test of time. If you’re looking for safe and average, I’m probably not your guy. But if you want a project you’ll be proud to show off for years, I’m all in.
Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I was a builder before I even knew what that meant—spending countless hours with LEGO bricks and submitting my own designs. When I wasn’t building, I was taking things apart to see how they worked. That curiosity for how things come together never left me.

After a brief stint in banking post-college, I quickly realized that life behind a desk wasn’t for me. I launched a stone and tile business in Orange County, which eventually led me to the Coachella Valley, where I had the privilege of working on high-end projects including the Ritz-Carlton. The rise of the short-term rental market brought new opportunities, and I partnered with another contractor to deliver turn-key vacation property flips for investors.
In 2017, my journey took me to New York City, where I managed large-scale, high-rise renovations in the heart of Manhattan. When the pandemic brought construction to a halt, I founded UVC Power—a company focused on UV-C disinfection systems that helped protect government buildings and critical infrastructure across the country.
Now, opportunity and passion have brought me home to the desert I’ve always loved. The Coachella Valley holds a special place in my heart—not just for its beauty, but for its rich architectural legacy. Equilibrium Builders is the culmination of over 15 years of experience, from tiling humble bathrooms to managing $100 million Manhattan skyscraper builds. But this company is something more: it’s a return to what I love most—crafting spaces that reflect the clean lines, bold character, and indoor-outdoor harmony of mid-century modern design.
Equilibrium Builders combines technical expertise with an eye for artistry. Whether we’re remodeling a kitchen in Palm Springs, building a casita in Indian Wells, or managing a full-scale renovation in Rancho Mirage, our goal is simple: create beautiful, livable spaces with integrity and care.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and father to three young children. I enjoy woodworking, hunting, automotive restoration, and the occasional round of golf—when time allows.
